The Impossibility of Salvation

Jesus would flunk today’s church growth classes. When the rich ruler comes to Jesus asking about salvation, He does not attempt to woo him with how practical and great the Christian life is (as often the church growth people do). Rather, He gives him the Law and the invitation to sell everything and follow Him. Therefore, we learn that the Law must be preached in order to humble mankind to the point that they may see the value of Christ’s work.
