God brings suffering into the life of the Christian in order to make him more like Christ. Suffering, however, can be very discouraging; a Christian may wonder if it will ever end. The fact that Christ suffered and then found the end of that suffering in the next life means that the Christian will follow the same path – his suffering will end in the next life.
