The doctrine or teaching of the Trinity is essential to understand. People will say that they want to know God. Well, you must begin with believing He exists, you must understand His attributes from the Scriptures such as His power, simplicity, sovereignty, holiness, etc. and then believe and understand that He is Triune. You cannot know God unless you understand His Triune nature.
