Life experiences often teach valuable lessons. In David’s case, on the one hand, he learned that hiding sin from God led to physical and emotional pain, and a lack of spiritual joy, and on the other, he learned that confessing sin openly before God led to assurance of justification and true happiness. These life-lessons are the basis of David’s instruction to the saints in Psalm 32.
