There is much confusion regarding what preaching is. In addition, there are many self-proclaimed preachers, teachers and Bible study leaders who are not rightly called and authorized. We need to reexamine what the Bible says about preaching. This sermon defines preaching as a proclamation of the Word of God by an authorized man; a proclamation that centers on the person and work of Jesus Christ. When the Word is rightly preached it is the Word of Christ.

I’ve read somewhere in an article criticizing the seeker-sensitive movement that we do not have artistic license in gospel preaching. I have shouted “Amen” to that statement continuously.
Yet,This sermon made me realize my own failings at personal evangelism with unsaved co-workers and friends. In fact, it causes me to rethink about how or even if I should attempt to “lead someone to Christ”. It revealed the magnitude of Romans 1:16, and as a result, hammered home the point that the gospel is not something any untrained professing Christian can wield in a careless manner.
So now I have to consider the likelyhood that even my own criticisms of current evangelical trends were tainted with vain conceit.
