In Genesis chapter 17 God commands Abraham to apply the sign of the covenant, circumcision, to himself and the male members of his household. If he does not, he breaks the covenant and faces the judgment of God. In the same way, Baptism, the sign of the New Covenant MUST be applied to those who confess Christ together with their children. Both signs point to the supreme grace of Christ to save sinners. What has happened in Reformed and Presbyterian churches today who allow families to join their churches without demanding the baptism of their infants? It’s simple: not to demand the baptism of infants is sin. Reformed and Presbyterian churches must reverse this trend and follow God’s command to baptize those to whom belong the promises of God – infants and children of believing parents.
